Minister of labour and integration, Bjarne Håkon Hansen (Labour Party), is working closely with Pakistani authorities to increase Pakistani immigration to Norway.
Among veiled women in the male dominated society of Pakistan, Mr. Hansen is bragging about how well the Pakistanis in Norway have adopted to their new life.
In a meeting with Pakistani foreign minister Zafar Ibqal Warriach in Islamabad yesterday, Hansen discussed how Pakistan and Norway can cooperate in increasing Pakistani immigration to Norway.
Lack manpower.
The Pakistani MP was very interested to know if Norway could take on more qualified immigrants from Pakistan, and he got a positive response.
- I’m personally involved in this project. I’ve already discussed it with the Pakistani ambassador in Norway, and I’m eager to help establish contacts between the Pakistani embassy and Norwegian companies that need skilled workers, says Hansen to VG.-
He points out that Norway has a shortage of workers, and that immigration from EU countries simply won’t be enough.

- It is not a question about whether we’re going to have an active immigration policy in Norway, we need to have an active policy in this area. The question we need to ask ourselves is whether we’re going to recruit from specific countries. I believe that recruiting from Pakistan is a wise decision, says Hansen.-
Even though Pakistan has a big problem with forced/ arranged and cousin marriages, and the existence of honour related killings, Hansen still thinks that Pakistanis in Norway are well integrated.
- They are among the best integrated immigrant groups in Norway. They have adopted to the Norwegian labour market, they are educated, their kids are attending school and their English is good. Ten percent of the politicians in the Oslo city counsil are Pakistanis. Pakistanis are in many ways role models when it comes to well integrated immigrants in Norway, says Hansen.
Only skilled workers
Today there are approximately 30 000 Pakistanis living in Norway. Hansen is convinced that this will ease the integration process for newly arrived Pakistanis.
He wish to emphasize that it’s only skilled workers he’s after, and that Norwegian companies will have to offer them a job before they can apply for a resident visa.
Hansen is also aware that work related immigration will increase family reunifications from Pakistan.

What I don't understand is this: if a country like Norway needs immigrants, why not seek Latinos? Mexicans, Central and South Americans? America is flooded with them and I believe on the whole they are very good for our country; they assimilate at a fast rate; hard workers; Western(!), no honor killings, no Islam issue. Why don't countries like Norway seek them out as well?
According to an article a few months ago, non western immigrants make up 90% of Oslo's population growth in the past ten years.

Everyone has a right to give their point of view. I will not comment on anyones' comments, but would like to say that every nation has some plus and negative points. My visit to Pakistan changed my views, which I had before. People living in Norway from Pakistani origin, who came to Norway in 70's, were mainly from villages and un-edcauted. Here I would like to say that Pakistan has played a vital role against terrorism and is the biggest ally of USA in this difficult time. Most of alleged terrorists have been arrested with the help of Pakistani intelligence and government efforts. People are peaceful and hospitable over there. At the moment Indians are being employed by companies in Norway. Why not literate people from other countries, if they are required by Norwegian companies and government. Pakistan is among the first six countries in the world with the fastest economic growth in the world according to Goldman Sachs. We can't ignore facts and figures and we need to integrate with nations like Pakistan and India. Being as a responsible EU national, I would like to say that immigration can play a critical success factor in the economic sustainibility of Norway.
Of course you need more immigrants.

Theres a very good article in Macleans magazine. Macleans, if I'm not mistalken, is a Canadian published magazine. Anyways, its the Oct 23rd edition of 2006. On the cover, the title reads "Why the future belongs to Islam". Before spewing all your uneducated views, Muslims included, read that article, it's very eye-opening.
And in regards to Indians' comments, you're sitting on a high horse that doesnt exist. Indians dont all occupy high tech, high pay jobs. Here in Canada they mainly drive taxis, security guards, truck drivers, work at gas stations, basically do the menially work. But thats nothing to be ashamed of. I am a Danish Investment Banker and I live and work in copenhagen and I need to say that the Immigrants of Indian origin work the hardest, obey the lay and are friendly people. The pakistanis on the other hand harrass and bully our girls in nightclubs and actively try to rape tehm whenever they can, the pakistanis seam to have no respect for western women what so ever. The Indians are people that contribute massively to the GDP of Denmark, the British are very luck to have such good Indian skilled proffesionals contributing great wealth to the UK economy.

It is not the race, nationality, colour of skin, financial assets and such other many millions of superficial trademarks that govern our lives in this mortal world. We accuse and scold each other in an attempt to gain a pseudo edge over other and to satisfy our EGO. But in the bargain we loose out most precious and sacred aspect of life that is PEACE and SATISFACTION. Let me give you an example technically/ scientifically. Any electronic, electrical, mechanical or biological device is supposed to be performing to its optimal efficiency if there is little or minimal element of heat dissipation involved. Though there are ways and means to put a heat sink in place to save the device from damage due to such dissipation, yet it cannot be ruled out completely (Theoretically less but practically NO).Thus the life of device/ gadget is completely dependent on this prime factor which always exists and are inversely proportional to each other.
Same way life of a human being (device) and ANGER/FEAR/Dissatisfaction (Heat dissipation) etc are inversely proportional to each other. The more you dissipate, the more you are susceptible to fast decay (and ultimately DEATH which is A PLAIN TRUTH).
So, dear all please understand that pointing finger on each other will not lead you any where. It will only make you more vendible to claws of DEATH. Please answer me, can anyone conquer this ultimate reality that is DEATH just because he / she is fairer than other or living in a developed country. Mind you no one is inferior to other. As for immigrants, they have to struggle everywhere as they have to learn the rules of that society they chose to migrate too. Even white immigrants have to struggle. Faster you learn the rule and assimilate to the society earlier you get accepted. Every culture is rich but no culture permits its people to attack others morally or physically.

A proud Indian (hahaha), i can only laugh at your nick. You know y, if you are that proud then what you are doing in norway? You should go back to India and help out your own country. Thank you for your reply, I knew that you gonna reply for that, because on your first blog, you haven't used any abusive words for any nation. Friend i am not against any nation, but if someone show us the mirror then i have to show them too. Some people specially, western people think that they are ruling the world. That is wrong, if you count out the figures of their degrees, that from 1000 western people only 20 will be holding a degree rest of them will be only a diploma holder. Lets come to the point, i was talking about the economy and growth rate from 2003 to 2007 only, i know that india is always ahead of pakistan, it is because we have many differences, in our population, in our land space, in our education system and also in our culture.
I myself hate those poeple who abuse others, but i support those who support and try to save there nation to be abused. Not only the nation, but i am also against those who abuse others religion, i don't care who they are and where they are from, they might be pakistani, western or indian, they do an unacceptable act if they abuse someones religion.
I have read through some blogs where some muslims wrote and used some abusing language about other religion. I think they don't have enough knowledge of Islam thats why they are writting this, and i aplogise for that on behalf of those people who did it. In Islam, we are not allowed to abuse someones religion, and thats a fact, it is a big sin to do so, Because our Prophet (peace be upon him) says, "if you abuse someone's God, they might abuse your's", so please don't make other to abuse your ALLAH, it means don't abuse other even if they abuse you. But if you abuse them first, they will definately abuse yours, because they don't know your ALLAH, that how powerful he is".
These people who are abusing other religion, they don't know what they are doing. Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) never abused anyone, people stoned him, say abusive words and did as bad as they could, but what he have done, he just prayed to ALLAH for those people, and asked ALLAH that please forgive these poeple who are abusing me and hitting me with stones, because they don't know me.
Anyway, i am not here to teach you people Islam, i just wrote all of these statements to show you, that how illetrate they are, who are abusing other religion. I don't know why people abuse other nation or religion?
So my friend one more thing i would like to say, I don't need to write i am a proud pakistani, because i don't want to show to people that i am a Proud Pakistani, Me and my Allah knows that i am proud to being a Pakistani. I am a Indian and when I first landed here in Norway a Pakistani helped me in getting to my destination...he gave me his mobile and we sit together and have a lot of talk about each other. Its just depends on our mentality..its not paki or India. Hindu or Muslim. We all need each other.
I have both Muslim sisters and Hindu sisters and I saw no difference in relationship when I visit their home.

Why western are better to Asian are that they have strong believe on equality of human beings.They respect every one and their policies also depict that. These values are what Islam preaches and demonstration of it is everywhere in Islamic religious activities e.g. Hajj. First of all to my Muslim brothers, please do not use bad language about other religions to show your anger. We should give them a logical answer and we need to show them that we muslims are more SOBER and we respect people.
To indians I would say, that we are almost similar in terms of capabilities and we are in almost in same kind of economic problems, so why cant you simply digest if some1 from a middle class family in Pak move to Norway for a better future if an Indian have the right to do so?
To white people I would say that the oppertunity is for all and all human beings should be given a chance to work and to earn money. There may have been some problems with a few Pakis immigrants, but believe me that most of them are peaceful or even if they arent they have to be peaceful as they have to earn money by working hard and send it people back home which depend on them.
